Think tanks

VCCCAR think tanks aim to facilitate the exchange of knowledge by creating space for learning where scientific, policy, and stakeholder communities can contribute their understanding of key issues, and discuss adaptation opportunities and constraints in a consensus building process.

Combining plenary presentations and interactive formats, our think tanks focus on understanding potential climate change impacts and the development of adaptation and resilience in different areas. They present research relevant to an area and its adaptation challenges, discuss adaptation issues and strategies with local decision-makers, share learning across sectors and communities, and inform the development of specific research priorities and projects.

Each think tank seeks representation from a range of stakeholders from the academic, public, private, and local community sectors dependent on the location and/or theme. Each event is preceded by a scoping exercise to identify existing related policy and research initiatives to avoid ‘reinventing the wheel’ and to promote synergies where this is possible and adds value.
